Scott Balfour

Scott Balfour became President & CEO of Emera in 2018. He joined the company as Chief Financial Officer in 2012 and became Chief Operating Officer in 2016. Since joining Emera, Scott has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth. He played a lead role in the $10.4B USD acquisition of TECO Energy in 2016 – at the time, one of Canada’s largest cross-border merger & acquisition transactions.

As CEO of Emera, Scott is leading the team in executing on the company’s long-standing strategy to safely deliver cleaner, affordable and reliable energy to customers. Under his leadership, the team continues to drive growth and create significant value for customers, shareholders and communities. In May 2021, Scott was named CEO of the Year by Atlantic Business Magazine. 

After beginning his career in commercial and corporate banking, Scott spent nearly two decades in Canada’s finance and construction sectors. First as CFO, then as President, Scott led the growth of the Aecon Group from a $60 million to $2.8 billion company and one of Canada’s largest publicly traded construction firms.

Scott is a Director of several of Emera’s operating companies including being Chair of Tampa Electric and Nova Scotia Power. He is also a former Director of Martinrea International Inc. and is past Chair of the Ontario Energy Association.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University, and earned a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.

Jacqueline L. Bradley

Jacqueline L. Bradley has had a 20-year career in financial services, including seven years with SunTrust Bank in Central Florida. Bradley also served eight years as vice president with Moody's Investors Services and three years at McKinsey Management Consultants and Touché Ross.

Bradley has served in a director, board or committee role with BankFIRST, the Orange County Tourist Development Council, the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida, The Studio Museum in Harlem, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, Florida Arts Council, the Cornell Museum of Fine Arts and the Central Florida Expressway authority.

Bradley received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Yale University, and her Master of Business Administration from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She was appointed to the board of directors in May 2020.

Patrick J. Geraghty

Patrick J. Geraghty is president and chief executive officer of GuideWell, a $19 billion Jacksonville-based mutual insurance holding company that serves 27 million people across 35 states, including Florida Blue, the leading health insurance company in Florida.

Geraghty is the immediate past chair of the Florida Council of 100 and a board member for the National Institute of Health Care Management, the American Cancer Society, Pardee Rand Graduate School and America's Health Insurance Plans. In 2016, Geraghty became a member of the Health Governors Community of the World Economic Forum and a trustee for its Global Challenge Initiative on The Future of Health.

Geraghty holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and a Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, from Florida Southern College. Geraghty was appointed to the board of directors in May 2017.

Pam Iorio

Pam Iorio is the former president and chief executive officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the country's oldest and most effective mentoring organization.

Iorio served two terms as mayor of Tampa, from 2003 to 2011, and is credited with helping to revitalize downtown, construction of the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, a reduction in crime and improved investments in infrastructure. Iorio also served on the Hillsborough County Commission and three terms as the county's supervisor of elections.

Iorio serves on the Council of Advisors of the Bob Graham Center for Public Service. She is a past leader-in-residence at the John H. Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa. In 2020, she was inducted into the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame. Iorio graduated from The American University in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and holds a Master of Arts in History from the University of South Florida. Iorio was appointed to the board of directors in May 2017.

Rhea Law

Rhea Law is the president of the University of South Florida. Previously, she was the chief executive officer and chair of the board of Fowler White Boggs, a Florida law firm. Law led the merger of Fowler with a national firm, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, in 2014.

Law currently serves on the boards for Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Tampa Bay Partnership. She serves on the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute board of directors and National Board of Advisors. Law served on the inaugural board of trustees for the University of South Florida, as well as the board of the Florida Council of 100.

Law received a Bachelor of Arts from USF, as well as a Juris Doctorate from the Stetson University College of Law. Law was appointed to the board of directors in May 2017.

Dan Muldoon

Dan has been with Emera Inc. for over three decades and is currently the Executive Vice President of Project Development and Operations Support. During his time with the company, he has held a number of engineering, supervisory and senior management roles including Executive Vice President, Major Renewable and Alternative Energy; President and Chief Operating Officer of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Emera Inc.; and President and Chief Operating Officer of Emera Utility Services.

Dan is a past member of the executive committee for Cigre Canada – International Council on Large Electric Systems. He previously served on both the Transmission and Distribution Councils for the Canadian Electricity Association and is a past Board Member of the Cape Breton Partnership.

Dan has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Dalhousie University).

Chris Sprowls

Chris Sprowls is of counsel for Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney PA law firm. He spent eight years in the Florida House of Representatives, beginning in 2014, and served as speaker of the Florida house from 2020 to 2022. He has robust experience in the legal field, including as a gang and homicide prosecutor in Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit. During his time as a prosecutor, Sprowls was the architect of one of the first veterans’ treatment courts in Florida.

As a long-time champion for childhood literacy, Sprowls serves as chairman of the advisory board for the University of Florida’s Lastinger Center for Learning, the home of Florida’s New Worlds Reading Initiative. Sprowls also serves as a director for Flagship Bank, and is active in many community organizations, particularly those committed to tackling fatherlessness.

He has a Bachelor of Arts from University of South Florida, and a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. Sprowls was appointed to the board of directors in April 2023.

Ralph R. Tedesco

Ralph R. Tedesco is the president and chief executive officer of Levisk Energy Advisors LLC, a strategy and consulting company to the electric and gas industry. Tedesco is the former vice chairman of the board of directors of Nova Scotia Power Inc., and previously served as president and chief executive officer of the company.

Nova Scotia Power Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Emera Inc. Tedesco previously served as a member of the board of directors of Emera Maine. Tedesco was the president and chief operating officer of New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG), serving approximately 1.3 million customers in central New York state.

While in Canada, he also was a member of the board of directors of the Pier 21 Society, whose mandate is to preserve and enhance Canada's national historic museum for immigration. Tedesco received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from the State University of New York at Albany. Tedesco was appointed to the board of directors in February 2020.

Rasesh "Sesh" Thakkar is senior managing director of Tavistock Group, an investment company with holdings in real estate, hospitality, restaurants, sports, energy, retail, agriculture and finance. Thakkar has been with the company more than 25 years, with expertise in life sciences, financial services, real estate, leisure, mergers and acquisitions and strategic planning.

Currently, he serves on the board and Governors Council of Orlando Economic Partnership and is a member of the board of trustees of the Tavistock Foundation and the Florida Governor's Council of 100. Thakkar is known as one of the main visionaries behind the innovative, high-profile Lake Nona community, a master-planned development that includes thousands of homes, UCF's College of Medicine and Nemours Children's Hospital. Thakkar was appointed to the board of directors in February 2018.

Helen Wesley is president and CEO of Peoples Gas, where she leads a diverse team responsible for the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to nearly 470,000 homes and businesses across Florida. With a keen focus on the state’s clean energy future, Wesley is positioning Peoples Gas as a leader in sustainable energy solutions through investments in emerging fuels such as renewable natural gas.

Wesley joined Peoples Gas in 2020 as chief operating officer. Prior to Peoples Gas, Wesley was with ENMAX Corporation, where she served as chief financial officer and executive vice president of Finance and Information Technology. As a result of a diverse career, she has more than 30 years of experience in various forms of energy — regulated and unregulated generation and transmission and distribution, upstream and downstream oil and gas, and commodity chemicals and pipelines. She has worked throughout North America as well as internationally in a variety of senior strategic and operational leadership positions. Wesley was a director with a public, global midstream gas processing company for nine years.

Throughout her career she also has been involved in community not-for-profit organizations. Now, she participates in the Tampa Bay Partnership, is a member of CEOs Against Cancer and Leadership Florida Executive Class 12, and sits on the board of directors for the Southern Gas Association and the board of trustees for the University of Tampa.

Wesley earned her Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of Calgary, and her Master of Business Administration in International Business from Bentley University in Boston. She also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and a Directors Designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
