Work is complete to repair an 8-inch natural gas pipeline that was damaged by third-party construction equipment (not related to Peoples Gas) the morning of Nov. 19.
Peoples Gas coordinated with Tampa Fire Rescue and Tampa Police to manage traffic flow and keep the incident scene secure.
Less than 10 customers experienced an interruption in service, and all should be restored today.
Additional Incident Details:
- Peoples Gas completed initial assessments and repairs to secure the scene by 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 19. Permanent repairs to the damaged pipe were completed by 10:30 p.m.
- As a result of the impact by the construction equipment, an 8-inch distribution pipeline was damaged. The pipeline delivers natural gas to approximately 700 customers, most of which were served through back-up compressed natural gas supply while repairs were made.
