Shannon recalls her early days of shoveling snow to access street lines and meters. Starting as a meter service technician and operating emergency vehicles in Boston, Shannon faced daunting responsibilities in urban settings during the 4 p.m. to midnight shift.
Transitioning to Florida and a much different climate, Shannon is the newest woman on our team of utility technicians in Sarasota. She works with a team that provides a comprehensive range of services, from meter services to location marking and leak investigations.
Shannon takes pride in being a role model for women wanting to enter the natural gas industry and her daughters, and she loves interacting with customers.
“We can do anything we set our minds to,” Shannon said. “As a mother of two adult women, I aim to demonstrate that women can forge successful careers and sustain themselves, with or without a college degree.”
With her daughters now pursuing their paths – one as a counselor and the other as an electrical engineer – Shannon embraces life in Florida and enjoys the outdoors. She’s even encountered her first alligator in the field!
