Pumpkin Spice May Be in the Air, But it Isn't Fall Yet

It's Peak Storm Season - Stay Prepared

We're all eager for fall. The new school year is underway and we're starting to see Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations on store shelves.

But for Floridians like us, this time of year – Sept. 10, to be exact – is the peak of the Atlantic storm season. So rather than picking up the latest seasonal latte, let’s ensure our storm plans are still top of mind.

Peak-Storm-Season.jpgThe pattern of hurricanes predicted at the start of the season hasn't quite materialized. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t something brewing. In its mid-season update, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) cited atmospheric and ocean conditions as setting the stage for an active hurricane season that could “rank among the busiest on record.”

Take action now

Here are a few things to do now, before we’re faced with severe weather:

  • Pay attention to forecasts and alerts. Storms have been scaling in size and intensity, rapidly building in warmer waters and hot air.
  • Review your emergency plans and supplies. Finalize your personal preparations and know your evacuation zone – check your county website for more information.
  • Review our storm readiness resources.
