A Post-Storm Message from Helen Wesley, President and CEO of Peoples Gas

I hope this note finds you well. It’s hard to fathom we’re moving into the holiday season and I’m grateful Peoples Gas has been a part of your year.

Earlier this summer, we welcomed our 500,000th customer to our natural gas system. This milestone represents so many things to us – the incredible growth happening across Florida, the choice you and other residents and business owners are making to use natural gas, and the confidence our customers have in the service and reliability we’re delivering.

With back-to-back major hurricanes, just under half of all our 500,000 customers were affected. We know so many in Tampa, St. Pete, Sarasota and Fort Myers are working to recover and rebuild, and we’ve committed $75,000 from our shareholders to United Way Suncoast to help.

Our natural gas system was resilient through Helene and Milton. About 1,400 customers lost service, mostly due to structural damage to their homes and businesses. We’re working directly with each customer to restore service as soon as it’s safe and prudent to do so. And we’re thankful to hear the good stories about how a natural gas stove, water heater, grill or generator helped make it through the storms.

We take our commitment to you seriously; please trust we’re always focused on doing the right things to meet your expectations. Safety is our priority, and we communicate with you throughout the year about regular inspections, storm and natural gas safety, damage prevention and pipeline awareness. We’re managing our costs, making prudent investments to maintain a safe and reliable system, improving environmental impacts, and developing our team and culture so that Peoples Gas is a great place to work. We believe that if we take care of our team, they will take care of you.

As we welcome a new season, I hope you’ll keep us informed about your energy needs so we can continue to deliver our best to you. On behalf of our entire team at Peoples Gas, thank you for choosing natural gas.

Sincerely,

Helen Wesley
President and CEO of Peoples Gas
